Prototype Update#5


From a 2 people team we got reduced to a 1 person team for this project now and so we had a delay of a week in finishing up the album production mechanics loop but here we are now! 

Album Production Loop

Step 1 : Get the singer to work on a cover album pitch and approve if the stats make sense for you as the label manager



Step 2 :  Your singer will be already at the next stage building after the album pitch is approved and it's the concept studio where you would write lyrics and compose the tune. At this stage if you think you would like to add an extra writer or/and composer you can add, but this would would have an additional impact on your album's forecast stats. For the below example we are not adding any extra resources and we are moving ahead as planned. 


Step 3 : Next is the music production building. The possibilities at the stage is to add an extra singer or/and producer, and we are demonstrating the change to forecast stats in adding them. 


Step 4 : For the sake of this prototype, we went to highest chain of events at the peak of gameplay to understand the amount of frictions before an album is officially launched, so we added a video production studio to create a video album for the song and the extras that you can add more is a director and an editor. If you don't add extra staff, it would be considered that the singer is doing things only his own for now.


Step 5 : In terms of album production the last stage is the marketing studio to prep for all the PR materials and will have extra staff like illustrator and copywriter. 


Step 6 : When each of the above stages are completed, there is a feedback that shows "M", "TR" and TE" popping up, which are  their mojo, trend and technique parameters of your song that keeps on adding. At the singers office, when you access the song you can always see the current contributing attributes to the song. After the marketing studio stage, you are ready to launch the album from the singer's office. On a weekly basis (in-game), the singer office would show a feedback of revenue earned from the album. 


Our target was to get to this place by end of Jan, even if we were a week late to post, we pretty much hit the target. The next milestone is end of Feb where we are aiming to add the following features to prototype : 

  1. Basic business engine to understand more better the interest factor of making more songs to earn more
  2. Tech Tree for the production buildings and their relationship to the song attributes 
  3. At album launch, critics review and hit chart representation

When it's gonna be released

Sorry for being silent on the blog.  I am hard at work for the prototype to be completed, if that’s what you were asking. If you are wondering about the release date, we are looking at end of 2020 for this game. But again, as we go through the prototyping process if we find that the game is not as fun as we thought it would be then we will have to take more time to iterate. Thanks for understanding.

Sorry, the prototype is not at a stage to be shared. A build will be ready by end of May. Until then we can only shared posts of the prototype.
